The Decameron forbidden is a 1972 Italian comedy, directed by Carlo Infascelli. The film, which counts among the starring actors such as Orchidea De Santis, Gabriella Giorgelli, nut Crostarosa and Carlo De Carvalho, is inspired by Boccaccio's fourteenth-century novels. In particular, it is the film adaptation of that novel starring frà Pepin, a young native of Florence, which was discovered and arrested for his relationship with Mona Fawaz, a married woman. Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
