Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
Absolutely the worst movie.
Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
Am I the only who noticed at the end the three point should have been a two because he was surely over that line
After draining his life savings to enter a team in the Rucker Classic street ball tournament in Harlem, Dax is dealt a series of unfortunate setbacks, including losing his team to his longtime rival. Desperate to win the tournament and the cash prize, Dax stumbles upon the man, the myth, the legend UNCLE DREW and convinces him to return to the court one more time. Uncle Drew was definitely what i was expecting it i'm afraid packed with terrible prosthetics, Shaquielle O'Neal looks like the tiger from Ice Age and the overall humor was dumb. (0/10)
As a movie, I'd give it about 6 stars. As a basketball fan I give the basketball scenes and line up 8 Stars. Wish they'd showed more. I did enjoy how they extended the Pepsi promos with a decent storyline. Enjoyed the cast and some of the inside basketball humor. The teenagers beside me didn't get the timeout joke by the preacher. A decent way to spend a couple of hours during the dog days of summer.
A convoluted backstory leads to short chubby Dax recruiting old Uncle Drew and his team of fellow geriatric players to take part in a basketball tournament. This film ticks the following boxes - "sport", "comedy", "black". It also ticks the box "annoying noisy principal characters." And, for anyone who has seen Karate Kid, Rocky, or any other film featuring underdogs in a sporting scenario, it contains no surprises whatsoever. But it's always heartwarming to see the underdogs battling against the odds - in this case an annoying but funny Nick Kroll. It does feature some well known basketball players under prosthetics and wigs as the retired players. None of them can act to save their lives but, at that, they give better performance than a number of the non-sporting performers. Lil Rel Howery as Dax heads the list here with a performance of extreme annoyingness.
