Slow pace in the most part of the movie.

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

I picked up this movie because it seemed to have a different refreshing theme compared to other recent Chinese movies i've come across. And not only was i not disappointed - the movie was even better than i expected. I admit i know extremely little about Chinese culture, but i immediately identified with the young woman's struggle to live her dream to be a singer. The film also had a lot of subtle suspense all throughout the movie which made every minute interesting. Also, the cast and directing was fantastic. Having never been to China i can't say much about how realistic this movie is, i perceived it a bit as both of a realistic drama and a fairy tale at the same time. I definitely recommend this movie to everyone who like music and want to see some of both the upsides and downsides of being an artist. The feeling left me with very much of a feel-good feeling.
